An incident in Migosi village, Siaya County, left its resident in shock after Silas Oduor Odongo, 26, who is accused of murdering his mother, Jenifer Atieno, over a land dispute and later surrendering himself to police.
According to reports, the land issue began in 2004 when the deceased was suspected of murdering her husband, which resulted in her being imprisoned for several years. After her release, she decided to build a home on a different piece of land before the son requested possession.
Mr. Franklin Odhiambo, the Assistant Chief, confirmed the incident, stating that the two had a land dispute for some time until Monday morning when he allegedly hacked her to death.
He further stated that the deceased was brought to the Siaya County Referral Hospital Mortuary while the investigation into the crime is ongoing and the primary suspect is in police custody.
