6,000 classrooms have been completed ahead of the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) transition to Junior secondary school at the end of this year.

Speaking at Namgoi Secondary School in Nandi County, education cabinet Secretary George Magoha said that 6,495 classrooms have been completed for CBC while another 3,500 will be completed by the end of next month.

Professor Magoha said that 80 per cent of the teachers have been trained on the CBC teaching skills Adding that they have been trained to teach based on an individual learner can do.

“The whole concept of the CBC is to identify and support the children’s talents in a given environment, and the teachers training is going on across the country,” he said

Profesor Magoha dismissed claims that there is shortage of infrastructure. He added that the government has allocated enough funds to cater for everything.

The education cabinet Secretary went ahead to urge the private sector to speed up the construction of new classrooms.
