Murang’a police commander David Mathiu has rejected the Azimio La Umoja coalition’s request for a town hall meeting on Thursday, April 20, stating that their notice was received late and that police officers were positioned in various places.

Former governor of Murang’a county, Mwangi wa Iria, presenting the letter on Tuesday to the police stated that the meeting will involve engagement forum between leaders and locals with the plan to gain acceptance into the government, and was to be attended by Azimio leaders including, Raila Odinga, NARC-K leader, Martha Karua, Wiper party leader, Kalonzo Musyoka, Roots leader, George Wajackoyah and Jeremiah Kioni, Member of the National Assembly.

According to reports seen by Tonzi Radio, the Police Commander indicated that the notice was delivered late and that they should have brought it four days before the planned meeting, which is why he did not allow it to take place.
