Dr. Gideon Wamasebu Simiyu’s body has been identified by his family following a postmortem performed on Monday night at the Kakamega County and Referral Hospital Mortuary. Dr. Gideon Wamasebu Simiyu was a medical practitioner from Uganda at the time of his demise.

The doctor, who was 62 years old, was strangled to death by the attackers using a rope, this is according to postmortem results by the County Pathologist for Kakamega, Dr. Dickson Mchana,

Dr. Mchana said that in order to establish the identification of the deceased, samples from family members had been collected for DNA analysis.

“The results of the DNA are expected in two or three days, for we had to take the samples for testing in order to establish in deed that the deceased was the missing doctor before handing the body to his family,” Said, Dr. Mchana.

The DCI team headed by Director of Homicide Mr. Martin Nyaguto visited the scene of the incident on Monday, which is located next to a sugarcane plantation in Machemo village, Kimangeti in Kakamega North sub-county, where they found the body with visible injuries on the neck and right hand.

Detectives have not yet uncovered any information regarding the doctor’s disappearance, which is thought to have occurred when he allegedly traveled to Webuye in Western Kenya with a pastor. Detectives say that little information is known as to why the doctor was in the country.

According to reports, His last connection with his family was a panicked phone asking them to transfer him Sh4 million since his life was in danger.

The family of the missing doctor have begun making preparation to have the body transported to Uganda.
