Police officers discovered the body of Mary Ann Wangari, 22, who was studying Communication and Public Relations at floating in the Nyangores River in the Chebirir area on Monday morning.
According to Ali Bashir, Bomet Central sub-county Deputy Police Commandant, who confirmed the incident, the deceased went missing on Tuesday of last week, and her body was discovered by one of the onlookers who rushed to inform the police, who have begun an investigation into what caused her death.
“A member of the public discovered the body and notified the authorities. As we begin serious investigations, our officers and the school administration have begun recording statements from students who were last seen with the deceased,” said Mr. Bashir.
The body, which had begun to decompose, was moved to the mortuary at Longisa County Referral Hospital for further examination.
