The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority has reduced the price of fuel by up to Sh18 in this month’s assessment.

Epra said Super Petrol has decreased by Sh5.31 per liter, Diesel by Sh10 per liter while the price of Kerosene has dropped by Sh18.68 per liter. The new review will be in effect from April 15 to May 14, 2024.

The authority said the price is inclusive of 16 percent Value Added Tax (VAT) in accordance with the provisions of the Finance Act of 2023, the Tax Law Amendment Act of 2020 and revised rates of Goods Tax for price inflation at according to the Legal Notice. Number 194 of 2020.

The last oil price review by the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) was in mid-March.

Epra reviewed the price of fuel and resulted in a reduction in the pump price of petrol by Sh7.21 per litre.

In the March review, the Authority also reduced the price of one liter of diesel by Sh5.09 and that of kerosene by Sh4.49.

Earlier, President William Ruto said Kenyans will witness a drop in fuel prices by Sh10.

Speaking during the Sunday service at ACK St Peter’s Cathedral in Nyeri, Ruto said the prices will be reduced by Sh10, a move that will push the country forward, he said.

“Today the price of Flour, which was Sh200, is about to hit Sh100, the shilling has strengthened against the dollar, the price of oil had gone up but today it is going down by Sh10. All this is because we are making the right decisions and not the people’s decisions,” the President said.

He asked leaders across the country to continue to pay attention as they have a historic opportunity to change the country.

“The countries before us ended poverty, they have industries, they have achieved development and all this is because they made the right decisions and their leaders led from the front,” Ruto said.
