The ministry of agriculture has embarked on training and sensitising farmers on crop desease and pest control.

Speaking at a length launch in Bondo sub-county, The Chief Excecutive of The Kenya Tsetse fly and Trypanosomiasis Eradication Council (KENTTEC), Dr. Pamela Olet said they have initiated groups where various farmers will have to register before getting the necessary training.

“We have embarked on a programme to revive activities that helping recruiting tsetse fly invasion and the diseases that it causes,” she said.

Dr.Pamela added that there is need for good surveillance since tsetse fly has not been fully eradicated. She also urged the county assemblies in the lake Victoria region to prioritise budgetary allocation for the eradication of tsetse fly.

The tsetse fly eradication drive is currently being carried out in Siaya, Migori and Homa Bay counties.

The drive is expected to continue in hope to fully eradicated tsetse fly and other diseases affecting farming, to increase quality and quantity of agricultural production.
