A Glovo rider has been charged with assault at Kibera Law Courts for allegedly hitting a customer for delaying to receive the delivery that he had ordered.

Willis Lwande has been accused of assaulting Hamza Abdirahman at Lavington estate in Nairobi on May 29.

Willis Lwande had delivered food to Hamza at his place in Lavington upon ordering. Willis waited at the gate for about 10 minutes before Hamza came to receive the food. Upon Hamza’s arrival, an argument ensued which ende by Willis hitting Hamza on the face using a mobile phone, causing injuries below his left eye.

Abdirahman returned to the compound bleeding, which prompting the security guards to arrest Lwande.

Lwande was detained in the security sentry room before he was taken to the Muthangari police station.

Lwande denied the charges before Resident Magistrate Jaqueline Onjwang and was released on a Sh100,000 bond and an alternative cash bail of Sh50,000.
The case is set for a pre-trial on June 29 and fixing of hearing dates.

Glovo is a Spanish company that offers courier service for purchasing, picking up, and delivering products ordered through mobile app.
