Following the mysterious death of 23-year-old interior decorator Geoffrey Mwathi, Interior Cabinet Secretary Prof Kithure Kindiki has directed the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Mohamed Amin, to investigate his death after he fell from the 10th floor of Kikuyu artist DJ Fatxo’s Redwood Apartments in Kasarani last month.Taking to Twitter on Friday morning, the Cabinet Secretary stated that he has directed the DCI boss to send homicide detectives to investigate what happened and take appropriate action.“On the matter of the late Jeff Mwathi, have spoken to the DCI Mr. Amin this morning and instructed him to send a homicide team from the DCI headquarters to thoroughly investigate the incident and take the necessary action,” He wrote.Geoffrey Mwathi is said to have gone to meet with DJ Fatxo on February 22 to finalize a business deal on interior design for his house after begging his mother, who was at the time in Qatar, to send him bus fare to attend the meeting.According to DJ Faxto’s statement, which he recorded after the incident at Kasarani Police Station, after meeting with Mwathi, they went to four different clubs before returning to his house at around 3:00 a.m. with three unidentified ladies.Surveillance footage shows that, Faxto and the three ladies left the house around 4:00 a.m., leaving Geoffrey at his apartment with two other men who arrived late at night in a different car.It is unclear what occurred, but the family is now seeking justice after Geoffrey was captured on surveillance footage falling from the 10th-floor apartment window of Faxto’s bedroom and disputing suicide claims made against him.In response to Kindiki’s orders, the DCI stated that they have taken over the investigation and that no stone will be left unturned until they find out what happened.“Detectives from the Homicide department based at DCI Headquarters, have this morning taken over investigations into the death of 23-year-old Jeff Mwathi, from Kasarani police station. This follows a directive by the Director of Criminal Investigations Mr.Mohamed Amin, for the expeditious investigation into the death of the young man. The public is assured that no stone shall be left unturned in the investigation of this case and any person found to have been,” DCI wrote in a tweet
