Police in Athi River, Machakos County, are probing the brutal killing of Sheila Odoyo, a renowned Ohangla dancer known as “Sheila Wegesha,” whose lifeless body was discovered in her matrimonial bedroom in the upscale Hill View Estate on Thursday May 9, bearing deep throat cuts.

Odoyo, 38, was found lying in a pool of blood, with visible injuries on her throat, as per a police report.

Her daughter, Linda Okinyi, informed Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) officers that she discovered her mother’s body when she went to serve her lunch on Thursday afternoon.

Okinyi also disclosed that her father, Jackson Bambo, 45, whom the investigators consider a person of interest, had left the house around 1 am on Wednesday driving a Mitsubishi Outlander without providing any information about the incident.

The body was transferred to Shalom Community Hospital mortuary for further investigation to ascertain the motive behind the murder and identify the perpetrator.

A detective involved in the case mentioned that the husband remains a person of interest since he was reportedly present in the house on the night of the incident, indicating signs of a struggle in the bedroom.

While details of the husband’s statement to the police were not disclosed, a neighbor acknowledged that the couple had their share of marital issues, echoing the sentiment that every marriage faces its challenges.

Odoyo, who also owned a JB Liquor Store in Umoja Estate, was well-known in Nairobi’s Ohangla dance club scene.

Her tragic demise prompted an outpouring of grief from fans worldwide on social media platforms, where images of the couple’s past joyful moments were shared widely.
