Wiper party leader, Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka, has accused the Kamba community of failing him by failing to participate in anti-government demonstrations called by Azimio La Umoja Leader, Raila Odinga, to champion the skyrocketing state of the economy, claiming that their low turnout is jeopardizing his chances of succeeding President William Ruto in the upcoming 2027 general elections.

Speaking at the burial of real estate tycoon Pius Musembi Kivindu in Sultan Hamud, Makueni County, on Wednesday, 6 April, who died in a road accident, Kalonzo stated that his community (Kamba) should emulate the spirit of Luo as that is how they can win elections, claiming that they have shown signs of cowardice by not attending the demos.

“Kambas demonstrated extreme cowardice during the protests; Kambas should emulate Luos in order to win the presidency. The entire country would take notice if you developed a spine. Winning the presidency will require more than just convincing Azimio leader Raila Odinga to back Kalonzo. These things are never given to people. They’ve been grabbed,” said, Kalonzo.

Charity Ngilu, former governor of Kitui County, also attended the ceremony and claimed that people have been asking her whereabouts during the demos where she said she is part and parcel of the coalition and congratulated them for the great work they are doing pushing for reforms in the country adding that she will not be taking part in the demos.

“Some leaders say they can’t see Ngilu, and it’s true you can’t see me, but I’d like to point out that those who are concerned about my whereabouts began demonstrating just the other day, despite the fact that I’ve been inhaling tear gas since 1992.” I see what you’re doing, Kalonzo, and I want to encourage you to keep going because you’re heading in the right direction.” She said.
