Nominated senator Hon. Karen Nyamu was yesterday kicked out of the chambers for dressing inappropriate . Ms. Nyamu had worn a sleeveless top exposing her arms which was against the house rules
The matter was addressed by Migori Senator Hon. Eddy Oketch where he called upon the speaker to tell if Karen was properly dressed
“I invite your attention to guide to guide the house rules whether Senator Karen Nyamu is properly dressed,” Hon. Eddy asked
He requested the majority and Kenyans at large to respect the rules of the house
Speaker Amason Kingi agreed the house rules had been violated and asked Karen Nyamu to leave the chambers and to come back once properly dressed
“Senator Nyamu, I’m going to read the speaker’s rule No for clarity. Senators are required not to enter the chamber, lounge or dining room without not being properly dressed.” The speaker stated.
“This means a senator will be dressed in a coat ,collar ,tie ,long trousers, socks and shoes or service uniform, religious attires or such other decent dressing as may be approved by the speaker from time to time. An equivalent standard shall apply in respect of women senators who may also wear kitenges or such other African attires.”
In respect with that he asked Karen to leave the chambers and come back.
