LIONEL MESSI SUSPENDED BY PSG OVER TRIP TO SAUDI ARABIA | BANNED FOR 2 WEEKS.
35 year old international football icon and latest World Cup winner Lionel Messi is on a two weeks suspension by his club Paris Saint Germain.
Messi will be heavily fined for taking unauthorised trip to Saudi Arabia. PSG defeat to Lorient is attributed to Messi’s defiant move to skip a match.
He is banned from training and playing for over a fortnight and his pay shall be docked pending fine. Messi was at the Saudi’s capital Riyadh.
The PSG forward and Argentina national is the tourism ambassador for Saudi Arabia thus was in the middle east for official duty despite having no authorization from his club. He will get back on the pitch to play against Auxerre on the 21st of May after missing Ligue 1 matches against Troyes & Ajaccio.
Lionel Messi visit to Saudi Arabia was confirmed by the country’s Tourism Minister Ahmed Al Khateeb who posted a welcome message to Messi on twitter, Monday and further posted a series of Tuesday photos of Messi and Family visiting the capital city,Riyadh.
PSG is currently on top of the table maintaining position one with 75 points from 33 matches.
