Samantha Nyawira Wanjugu, a third-year student at Murang’a University of Technology pursuing a degree in Tourism Management, was discovered dead after committing suicide by hanging in her Murang’a Town apartment after an alleged heated argument with her boyfriend that led to their breakup.
According to a memo released by the University Dean of Students Asige Chavumilu, the deceased was discovered dead in her home on Tuesday, April 18, at around 1:20 a.m.
“It is with deep sorrow that the office of the Dean of Students announces the passing of Samantha Nyawira Wanjugu. She dies on 18th April 2023 after committing suicide in a rented room near Total Filling Station at around 1:30 am,” read part of the Memo.
The deceased’s body was brought to Murang’a Level 5 Hospital Mortuary after the girl’s and boyfriend’s parents were summoned to the school and informed of the incident while burial arrangements are underway.
