Mutahi Ngunyi, an outspoken political analyst, has publicly declared his allegiance to President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza faction.
Ngunyi, a city attorney who used to counsel former President Uhuru Kenyatta on issues related to politics, stated in a late Monday online post that he had shifted his opinion about Ruto, whom he was previously a ferocious opponent of.
It read, “Public notice: I have defected to William Ruto. I misjudged him using the dynasty lens. But if the facts change, you must change your mind. And only a fool does not change his mind. I started Project HustlerNation. Now I must complete it. Iko Swali?”
He was making reference to the political dynasty designation that the former prime-minister, Raila Odinga, received during their handshake in the month of March 2018.
Ngunyi has been spotted recently endorsing President Ruto’s administration and urging Kenyans to give the previously serving deputy president an opportunity amid protests against the administration that the opposition has scheduled due to the high cost of living.
