A Mozambique Pastor dies on 25th day of his fast. He was emulating what is said to have been done by Jesus fasting for 40 days.
Francisco Barajah, founder of the Santa Trindade Evangelical Church was rushed to the hospital in the city of Beira where he was in a critical conditions.
After 25 days of no food or water the 39 year old pastor had become weak, lost allot of weight and could barely walk. Relatives and followers rushed him to the hospital where is he diagnosed with Anemia and failure of his digestive organs. Doctors did everything to save his life but it was too late. The pastor died shortly after being in the hospital.
The pastor was also a teacher in the town of Messica in the central province of Manica, bordering Zimbabwe. Now his followers said that he would fast with some members of the church but not for that long. His brother Marque Manuel on the contrary said the pastor had fasted but he challenged the medical diagnosis about his death.
“There truth is that my brother suffered from low blood pressure,” he said.
Research has shown that this is not the first case to occur emulating Christ’s 40 -day fast in the desert as described in the gospel of Matthew.
