A statement from The Office of the Directorate of Public Prosecution indicated that the incident came to light when the girl’s guardian reported the matter to the police.

According to police reports, Nzioki prescribed the minor some assorted abortion pills on 3 June 2023 before the victim’s guardian later learned of the crime and took her to the Coast General Hospital where an examination by doctors confirmed it was an abortion.

“The girl’s guardian reported the incident to the police who took her to Coast General Hospital where the abortion was confirmed on examination by doctors,” ODPP said Tuesday.
