The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has announced a decrease in the price of one liter of petrol by Sh7.21.

The government has also reduced the price of one liter of diesel by Sh5.09 and that of kerosene by Sh4.49 in the new prices announced on Thursday, March 14. In the monthly review for the period starting at midnight on March 15, the cost of imported oil increased by 5.6 percent to $703 compared to the previous month.

Following the announcement, one liter of petrol in Nairobi will be sold for Sh199.15, diesel for Sh190.38 while kerosene will be sold for Sh188.74. Earlier on Thursday, President William Ruto had hinted at the drop in fuel prices while speaking in Kericho.

In his speech, President Ruto said that Kenyans would receive good news about oil prices when they are announced later. The President said this while assuring the residents of Kericho that he asked for an opportunity to fix the economy and he has done exactly that. He said many aspects of the economy seem to be better including the Kenyan shilling, which is now strengthening against the US dollar.
