Deputy president William Ruto claims that a section of the media are biased against him in news coverage.
Ruto claimed that he had noticed a bias in the reporting and allocation of airtime for key political candidates. He went ahead and urged that the mainstream media should be fair in reporting political news.
“We have noted the unequal allocation of coverage, compounded by biased framing and negative profiling of the Kenya Kwanza Alliance campaign and personalities affiliated to it,” the DP said.
“We expect the media to play their rightful role in cultivating a healthy, robust and inclusive discourse. Our democracy depends on the media to make our political environment less divisive and less toxic,” he added.
Ruto has therefore said that he will boycott the presidential debate scheduled for July 12, 2022.
