Members of Parliament from the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party now want the Azimio la Umoja coalition to be held accountable for the destruction witnessed during the mass demonstrations held on Monday.

In a statement on Tuesday, Kenya Kwanza stated that the demonstrations led by Azimio’s leader Raila Odinga culminated in

“looting sprees, orgies of mindless destruction, running battles with law enforcement officers

a disparity from what had earlier been promised to be peaceful demonstrations.

They accused Mr. Odinga of coordinating the violence which they say largely paralyzed business operations and other public services.

Damages incurred, they further argued, will now force the government to use billions in remodeling and renovating the city.

“The destruction, loss, and damage arising from Mr. Odinga’s chaotic activities will surely run into tens of billions of shillings,” they said.

The MPs now want security agencies to launch a probe on the matter and bring all perpetrators to book.

“We urge you to enforce the law firmly and bring all perpetrators of the criminal mayhem committed at Mr. Odinga’s behest to account,” said UDA legislators.

“They must be charged for every stone thrown, property looted, goods destroyed and persons injured.”

“It is time to confront a ridiculous predicament that has remained unresolved for far too long. The government must determine once and for all if Mr. Odinga is above the law,”  Kenya Kwanza added.
