As the Azimio La Umoja team and leaders continue their journey to protest the high cost of living, Ugunja Member of Parliament and Minority Leader Opiyo Wandayi, as well as Kilifi Senator Stewart Madzayo, have been arrested by police officers.

The two were arrested at the Kenya International Convention Centre (KICC), where they had gone to join other protestors, prompting police officers to use teargas to disperse the crowd, which they claimed was causing disruption.
According to reports, the protest has disrupted businesses which have remained closed across the country, resulting in many protestors being arrested and others being injured because in some places, such as Kibera, protestors decided to battle with GSU officers using stones, who in turn used teargas to disperse the angry crowd.
Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, who was among the protesters, accused police officers of disrupting peaceful demonstrations during which he led Azimio MPs in demanding the immediate release of Opiyo Wandayi and Stewart Madzayo.
