Machakos gubernatorial candidate Wavinya Ndeti’s academic credentials have been disputed before the IEBC’s Dispute Resolution Committee.
The petition was brought to the IEBC by two Machakos County voters identified as Gideon Ngewa Kenya and Kisilu Mutisya. They argued that Wavinya presented different degrees to the IEBC for clearance in 2013 and 2017 elections.
Wavinya has gone ahead to defend herself saying that she holds a valid bachelor’s degree. She went ahead to say that documents she handed over in 2013 and 2017 were similar.
“During the 2013 and 2017 general elections, I presented the above credentials and I was cleared by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commisssion to vie for the gubernatorial seat for Machakos County,” she said.
The determination of the issue will be made on Saturday, 18th June.
As the probe into academic certificates of various political aspirants continue, many are still facing hard times with the IEBC clearance, Jonson Sakaja included.
