As the Azimio La Umoja protests began week two on Monday, March 27, a group of unknown goons raided the Kenyatta family land in Northlands City, Nairobi, while the demonstrations were still going on.
The invasion elicited a wide range of reactions, with the National Assembly Speaker, Moses Wetangula, condemning the incident and directing the Inspector General of Police to conduct a comprehensive investigation into what occurred on the lands and guarantee that Kenyan properties are secured.
During a burial ceremony at Kaptebengwet in Soy, Uasin Gishu County, Wentagula urged unto Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga to accept the election results, adding that the government should protect every Kenyan and his or her property.
On another account, Narc Kenya Party and deputy leader of the Azimio Coalition party, Martha Karua accused Inspector General of Police Japheth Koome of failing to send police to stop the attack on the Northland farm but instead sending them to disturb the demonstrations.
“IG Koome, the ‘tough-talking‘ police chief of NPS who deploys police to block and tear gas lawful demonstrations but sits idle while hired goons invade and destroy the private property of a retired president and commander in chief,” Karua wrote on her page.
