Studies at Kenyatta University have been suspended for the next three days following a fatal road accident that killed eleven students.

In a statement on Tuesday, the institution’s management said the move aims to allow them to mourn the students who died. The suspension of classes will start from Wednesday to Friday this week.

The institute revealed that the accident involved students from the department of health management and information in the School of Health Sciences. It said that in addition to eleven students who lost their lives, eleven others were seriously injured while 16 received minor injuries.

Prof Waceke also revealed that the institute has set up a help desk to provide assistance and also answer questions about the accident. At least 11 Kenyatta University students died on Monday evening in a fatal road accident involving their school bus and a trailer, Voi Sub County Police Commander Ibrahim Daffala confirmed. Daffala said 10 students died on the spot while another died in hospital.
