Theft charges were brought against Millicent Wanjiru, who is accused of adding a punitive substance to her former coworker’s drink before robbing him.

Jackson Imbwaka’s home in Githurai 44, Nairobi County, on January 18 is where Ms. Wanjiru is alleged to have stolen electronics, furniture, an ATM card, and Sh5,000 in cash worth a total of Sh76,000.

Ms. Wanjiru is accused of two charges, including handling stolen property in violation of Penal Code Section 322(1) and dishonestly keeping Mr. Imbwaka’s laptop and charger, two cell phones, and a watch.

According to reports, the incident took place after Ms. Wanjiru asked to meet with Jackson at his house, where he also welcomed her for meals and drinks. He went ahead and got the beers, but thereafter he passed out. The following morning, he discovered his door had been opened and that the aforementioned properties were no longer there.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigation tracked the suspect to her home in Kahawa Wendani, Roysambu Constituency, where she was detained and part of Mr. Imbwaka’s stolen property was recovered after he reported the incident to the police.

The accused denied the charges in front of Makadara Law Courts’ Principal Magistrate Hellen Okwani, and she was freed on a Ksh 20,000 bond without the chance to post cash bail. On April 11, before the hearing gets started on August 9th, the matter will be discussed.
