WOMAN STEALS NEWBORN BABY AT BUNDIBUGYO HOSPITAL UGANDA.
A woman disguised as a nurse found her way into the labor ward at Bundibugyo hospital Uganda and what would follow next was the search of a missing baby.
Immaculate Katusiime decided to wear a clinical coat before deceiving the mother of the baby that she was taking the baby for immunization.
The suspect was nabbed while fleeing and had just landed in Kanyamwirima village where police caught up with her after gathering intelligence.
She had earlier on been captured on cctv camera disappearing from the hospital with the infant.
” We discovered a towel the baby was wrapped in and the clinical coat she used,” Rwenzori West Police Spokesman Vincent Twesige revealed.
Immaculate confessed to stealing the baby after confrontation by the law enforcement officers. This was at Mumbai lodge where she had been followed.
The baby’s real mother recounts Immaculate approaching her while she lied on her bed and requested to take the baby for immunization. She would later raise the alarm when the two took too long to come back and so sought the intervention of police.
” I am grateful to God and the police for seeing my child alive. This is my first child and I pray that justice will prevail” Her husband Geoffrey Kule said.
Police however maintain they will have to wait for the DNA results to know the biological mother of the child before any further actions hence both will take the test.
