A baby girl was rescued alive from the womb of a Palestinian woman who was killed in an Israeli attack on the Gaza Strip.
According to the Reuters news agency, the attack carried out at night in the city of Rafah killed about 19 Palestinians.
Among the 19, 13 children from the same family were reported to have perished in the attack.
The baby girl was said to weigh 1.4kg and was saved through emergency surgery after rescuers discovered that her mother died at 30 weeks pregnant.
Rafah hospital management said the child will be under special care for a period of 3 to 4 weeks before checking the process of his departure.
The war between the Israeli army and the Hamas militants in the Gaza Strip has continued since October last year.
It is reported that more than half of the residents of Gaza, which are approximately 2.3 million, have fled to the city of Rafah to seek refuge from the attacks of the Israeli army.
