When one isn’t an adult he/she wishes that time would fly so fast so that one can get to test the stage of adulting, because of lack of freedom. The issue with those of us wishing to be adults get stressed and depressed when we get there, the reason behind it being that we were not prepared for the responsibilities that come with this stage.

Recently a lady twitted that she will be turning 32 years old the coming month and she has nothing to show for it like no house, no car, no husband and no kids, she continued and said that “The kicker in this is I never prepared for this age. I thought I’d be dead by now. Here I am still trying to navigate things I should’ve done in my 20s. Life is hard.” End of quote, this is sad, right? A comrade replied to the tweet by saying “I finished my varsity at 24, got married at 25, bought a house and cars at 26, at 30 I had 4 kids, At 35 I’m divorced, single father of 4, no car, taking anti-depressant medication… life is hard indeed.” This is super sad guys and this needs us to observe a moment of silence.

The reality looks so sad and sometimes some of us are caught up with this issues and responsibilities such that we don’t have even time to ourselves, when I talk about responsibilities I mean paying of house rent, making crucial decisions, budgeting for foodstuffs, clothing, take care of young ones if you happen to be an elder son or daughter and sending some cash to parents/guardians. If you do not have a well-paying job in this country you will end up stressed in life and blame everyone for your existence. The above reasons can make one wish to be kid again or rather be a drug addict to easy stress while we all know that none of this is a solution to the issue at hand.

As many would say “vitu kwa ground ni different” it’s true and for those of us worried about things not working and claiming not to be prepared for a certain age, it’s as simple as playing your cards well and knowing that there is no marking scheme for life and finally life starts at 50 so chill and enjoy life.
