Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) has been instructed by the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) to close Terminal 2 on Friday, February 24 from 11 am to 5 pm and Sunday, February 26 from 6 am to 6 pm. This closure will assist security personnel in facilitating the movement of US First Lady, Jill Biden.

The first lady of Kenya, Rachel Ruto, and other senior government officials are scheduled to meet with Jill Biden. She is currently visiting Kenya for the third time overall and for the first time as the First Lady of the United States.

The US Embassy noted that Jill’s visit was intended to strengthen US partnerships on the African Continent and advance regional goals when it announced the First Lady of the US’s trip to Kenya. They added that she will also talk about the need to execute drought mitigation strategies nationwide and issues related to youth empowerment.

“Dr. Biden’s interactions will center on supporting our shared democratic principles, empowering women and young people, and addressing food hunger,” Read the statement.

She will first travel to Namibia, where she will meet and participate in a dynamic young drive in a nation she believes has a solid democracy, before traveling to Kenya.
