The somber occasion of Senior Sergeant John Kinyua Muriithi’s burial is currently underway in Kirinyaga County, marking the final farewell to the valiant soldier who tragically lost his life in a helicopter crash two weeks ago.

The interment ceremony is taking place at Kirimunge Primary School ground, where family, friends, colleagues, and dignitaries have gathered to pay their respects to Sergeant Muriithi.

Sergeant Muriithi is among the ten military personnel who perished in the helicopter crash at the Sindar area in Elgeyo Marakwet County on April 18, 2024.

The crash also claimed the life of Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Francis Ogolla, leaving only two survivors from the military team.

The fallen soldiers, whose lives were cut short in the tragic incident, include Brigadier Swale Saidi, Colonel Duncan Keittany, Lieutenant Colonel David Sawe, Major George Benson Magondu (Pilot), Captain Sora Mohamed, Captain Hillary Litali, Senior Sergeant John Kinyua Mureithi, Sergeant Cliphonce Omondi, and Sergeant Rose Nyawira.

As the nation mourns the loss of these brave individuals, the funeral service serves as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by members of the armed forces in the line of duty.
