The Department of Meteorology has issued a stark warning regarding the impending heavy rain expected to lash the country starting Friday and persisting throughout the weekend.

Director David Gikungu cautioned citizens in a statement on Thursday, outlining that the downpour is anticipated to affect 46 counties, encompassing regions such as the Rift Valley, Nairobi, Lake Victoria Valley, and the Coast.

Gikungu emphasized that the rainfall, already responsible for several fatalities and substantial damages, will intensify over two days before gradually subsiding on Sunday.

The detrimental effects of the continuous deluge have already manifested across the nation, with reports of roads resembling rivers in the capital city of Nairobi.

According to the United Nations, the relentless rain and resulting floods have claimed the lives of more than 32 individuals, forcing over 40,000 people to evacuate their homes in search of safety.

On Wednesday morning, Kenya Railways announced disruptions to its services as floods wreaked havoc on railway tracks, impeding train operations. Security concerns prompted the company to suspend services temporarily.
