Mara Ward Representative in Narok County Alleges Threats to His Life

Chepkwony Kipng’eno  the Mara Ward representative in Narok County, has filed a police report following an attack he claims was orchestrated by his political adversaries.

The incident, which occurred while he was attending a funeral, has raised concerns about his safety and sparked discussions about the political landscape in the region.

Kipng’eno asserts that the attack was motivated by his criticism of Governor Patrick Ntutu of Narok and his stance on the local elections of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.

He has been advocating for Narok West MP Gabriel Tongoyo to assume leadership of the UDA in Narok County.

The confrontation reportedly stemmed from Kipng’eno’s questioning of the utilization of a 100 million shilling ward fund announced by the county government.

He alleged that there were no tangible projects in the wards despite the substantial investment.

The incident has garnered attention beyond local boundaries, with Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei and Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina condemning Governor Ntutu for allegedly orchestrating the attack.

Cherargei emphasized the importance of freedom of expression and called for an end to political violence.

Governor Ntutu, however, distanced himself from the attack, urging his supporters to refrain from targeting Kipng’eno.

He emphasized the need for unity among citizens and leaders in the county.

Kipng’eno has expressed fear for his life, citing threatening messages he received on his mobile phone following the attack.

He has taken the step of reporting the incident to the Narok CID offices.

The situation involving Chepkwony Kipng’eno sheds light on the challenges faced by political representatives in Narok County and underscores the need for a conducive environment for democratic discourse.

As investigations proceed, attention will remain focused on efforts to ensure the safety and security of public officials in the region.
