The renowned Mugithi artist Mary Wangari Gioche, popularly known as Kareh B, has turned to prayer for solace amidst the anguish of losing her son in a tragic accident.

Kareh B’s son, Joseph Mwadulo, lost his life in an accident on April 1, 2024, prompting the grieving mother to seek divine intervention for peace.

Last week, Mr. George Onyango Riako, the bus driver involved in the accident, faced prosecution for his alleged role in the incident.

Accused of causing the death of one student and injuring nine others, Onyango was promptly arrested a day after the accident occurred.

He appeared before the Winam Law Court, where he was granted bail set at Sh200,000 cash or Sh500,000 bond.

Prior to the court hearing on Thursday, Kareh B took a moment to mourn her son and pray for comfort from God.

The hearing coincided with the recent burial of her beloved son in Embu County, further intensifying the emotional ordeal for the grieving mother.

The charges against Mr. Onyango were outlined in a charge sheet presented during the court proceedings.

It was alleged that the suspect operated the vehicle, carrying students from Chavakali Boys’ High School, at an excessive speed, posing a danger to the public.

The circumstances surrounding the accident, including the road conditions and the presence of other vehicles, were deemed contributory factors to the tragic outcome.

According to reports, it is claimed that Onyango intentionally applied harsh brakes while approaching the Coptic roundabout, causing the vehicle to lose control and veer off the road, resulting in the fatality.

During his appearance before Magistrate DK Mtai at the Winam Court, Onyango denied the charges brought against him.

Despite his denial, the magistrate granted him bail, allowing his release upon meeting the specified bail conditions.

Magistrate Mtai further scheduled the case for mention on April 25, 2024, marking the next step in the legal proceedings surrounding the tragic accident that claimed the life of Kareh B’s son.
