Joel Rabuku Ogolla, the son of the late Chief of Army Staff General Francis Ogolla, has dismissed rumors of any bad relationship between his father and President William Ruto.

While addressing the mourners who gathered for his father’s funeral in Nginya, Siaya County, Joel noted that there have been many rumors about his parent’s relationship with national leaders.

However, he made it clear that the late general Ogolla had a good working relationship and a good alliance with president Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua. He pointed out that the president appointed his father because of his qualities.

“The president should not have appointed him first, and he first saw his qualities and saw that this is the right person for the job.

Then they quickly became friends and formed a good alliance that he would tell me ‘I had a very good meeting with the boss’,” he said.

He added, “Not only him, but also the vice president. They were very happy to be with him and they had a great security relationship to get the country. His ministers became like his brothers.”

The young man indicated that he spoke to his father frequently and would assure him of the good working relationship he had with the country’s leaders.

He also dismissed allegations that President Ruto faked tears during the memorial service for the late Francis Ogolla in Nairobi on Saturday.

“In my heart I know it was true,” he said.

In addition, Omondi criticized bloggers for not caring about people who are going through difficult times.

“There are useless bloggers, who are quick to post pictures. Some people have no feelings. So you have given information, have you been given a job?” he asked.

Ogolla was among 10 army officers who died in a helicopter crash on Thursday on the border between Elgeyo Marakwet and Uasin Gichu counties.

They were on a peacekeeping mission in the disputed Rift Valley region, which has been plagued by cattle rustling and banditry.
