SINCE former administration official George Natembeya won the governorship of Trans Nzoia, he has continued to raise many questions by shaking Western Kenya’s top politicians Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetang’ula.

Mr Natembeya, who until a few months before the 2022 general election was the Commissioner of the Rift Valley, seems to be emerging as a politician who wants to take the title of spokesman for the Mulembe community.

In addition, this strange thing in the political arena, he has appeared as a politician who is trying to fulfill a dream of many years to achieve the unity of the Luhya community.

Now the question on the lips of many is this; will he succeed in realizing this dream that has burdened Mudavadi and Wetang’ula and even the General Secretary of the Union of Trade Unions in the Country (Cotu) Francis Atwoli?

While appearing to answer this question, and others that have created a stir in the politics of Western Kenya, Mr Natembaya seems to be using his long experience in regional administration to build himself a political empire.

For example, he has built a reputation as a unique Rift Valley commissioner who succeeded in evicting the settlers from the Mau Forest and dealt fiercely with poachers and followers of the illegal Mungiki group using commando tactics.

It is believed that Mr Natembeya is planning to use such methods to develop strategies to enable him to take the title of spokesperson of the Luhya community.

As it was when he served in the regional administration, the Governor of the DAP-Kenya party, is seen as a hard worker and puts effort into what he wants to achieve.

And now he has started a campaign to bid for himself not only as a leader of the Luhya community but as a defender of the poor people in that community.

In his political speeches and his interactions with people, sharing food and drinks with them, Mr Natembeya emerges as a “man of the people”.

As the 2027 general election approaches, the truth about Natembeya’s political stars and qualities will be revealed.
