CNN’s reporter on African affairs, Larry Madowo, has expressed his surprise after he claimed to be sold ugali and omenaa for more than one thousand Kenyan shillings.

Usually in many restaurants in Nairobi, ugali and omena are sold for 150 shillings per plate, but Madowo, although he did not mention the place where he ate the food, expressed his surprise that it was sold for 1,200 shillings.

Madowo asked a rhetorical question wanting to know since when seafood food was praised and raised to make it expensive, a situation that many consider it to be a normal food and whose price should be normal as well.

“This food cost KSh1,200. Because when was omena respected?” Madowo asked and added, “Is this politeness?”

On the comments side of the post on Facebook, Madowo asked the legal price of the food and was even more surprised when some told him that it should not exceed 70 shillings for one dish.

Here are some comments;

“Miuse o funds buana… this street is 70 🙄🤔😂😂.. and you are full until supper” Baraza Fred.

“Is that the normal ugali and omena we really know?” Kereyian Meshack.

“Bro, all that doo?!.. let me buy three tins while I fry myself. 😂 Hear poverty speaking now.” Sagini Ryans.

“You are the one who went to a 5-star hotel. Better Omena/ugali with a slice of lemon goes for 200 shillings.🤣🤣🤣” Josephine Gathi.

What is the price of ugali and omena food in the place you know?
