Police in Migori county are looking for a gang of five that robbed a family Ksh. 350,000, CCTV cameras, decoder and a TV. According to sub-county police commander Cleti Kimaiyo, the gang was armed with 2 AK47’s and a G3 rifle.
The gang invaded the home of Charles Chacha on 24th June 2023 at around 10:30 pm, broke the doors and gained access to his house. Charles who pleaded with the gang to spare his life and that of his family opened his bedroom and gave out Ksh. 350,000.
After receiving the cash, the robbers who were wearing smoked jackets and blue trousers also took CCTV cameras, a decoder and TV set before escaping. There was immediate response from police who engaged the gangsters in a shoot-out. An empty cartridge of 7.62mm and a bullet head were recovered on scene.
The robbers managed to escape towards Karosi village. Investigations are still ongoing. Police commander Cleti Kimaiyo has appealed to the public to inform the police of any useful information that might aid in investigations.
