Almost three weeks after losing veteran actor John Okafor aka Mr Ibu, the Nigerian movie industry is mourning again as it has lost another legend, Mr Amaechi Muonagor.

Mr Muonagor was confirmed dead on Sunday, March 24 after suffering from kidney disease for a long time. He has died at the age of 62. Nigerian media have reported that the comedian was on dialysis before his death. He was partially paralyzed from a kidney disease that had taken his life.

The death of the veteran actor came a few days after a video went viral where he was seen asking for financial help from Nigerians to enable him to travel abroad for a kidney transplant. Mr Muonagor, who is a father of four children was recently discharged from hospital, while waiting to raise money for his further treatment abroad.

Last week, the deceased came forward to ask for financial help after his health deteriorated. A video showing the veteran actor weak while lying in bed struggling to ask for financial help for a kidney transplant has been circulating on social media for the past few days. In the video, he was seen with a swollen face and a bandage on his chest while trying hard to explain his condition and ask for help.

After failing to continue speaking, another actor, Kingsley Orji appeared to take over, explaining that the veteran artist is suffering from kidney problems. Another actor, sitting next to him, continues to whisper that Muonagor needs money to pay for a kidney transplant in India. The news about the death of Mr Muonagor comes just a few weeks after the death of fellow veteran actor John Okafor aka Mr Ibu. Mr Ibu died of a heart attack on March 2, 2024. The comedian died at the Evercare Hospital in Nigeria, reportedly in a coma.
