Police in Bomet County are investigating an incident in which a 30-year old man murdered his father and severely injured his mother after they refused to give him money to buy a motorcycle. According to Assistant Chief Wesley Langat, the suspect identified as Victor Langat demanded a share of the money attained from selling a piece of land.
When they denied him the money he took a piece of wood and hit his mother before the father came to her rescue. In an attempt to intervene, the father was struck down with the same piece of wood and died on the spot.
Neighbors rushed to the scene to help, restrained him and handed him over to the police who took him to Sotik Police Station where he is currently undergoing interrogation. According to the chief, the suspect is a drug addict with many criminal offences.
