Detectives from the DCI criminal investigation unit in Nairobi have succeeded in recovering a pistol type gun that was stolen from the OCS of the Vihiga county police several days ago.

According to the statement published on the DCI’s social media pages, they said that the police were following the bandits who are believed to be bothering the citizens by using sharp weapons.

After a fierce encounter, the police managed to kill two robbers in a busy street in Kasarani and captured the pistol which was later identified as the one stolen from OCS in Vihiga, Western Kenya.

In order to get the gun, the brutal gang ambushed the Chief Inspector while he was parking his car in the Vihiga Building market, and attacked him with daggers and left him thinking he was dead. Then they disappeared with his pistol with 15 bullets.

After being monitored for several days, detectives from the DCI Operations Directorate quickly responded to an intelligence report received through the #FichuakwaDCI hotline by an anonymous caller who reported seeing a suspicious vehicle with three armed men in a field of KU in Mwiki.

After the three robbers were found by the police and asked to surrender, two left the park while one remained and wanted to fight them before being killed.
