Sometimes the things I see on social media leaves me wondering if there are boundaries of whatever is supposed to be posted on our socials. The kind of videos on platforms like TikTok and other social media platforms look weird, terrifying and sometimes scary to an extend such as a doctor showing the operation process in theatre room.

Nowadays showing off scars is not a big deal like in the past years where it looked like some kind of a taboo to do such like things in public domain but these days such things are celebrated and applauded for no reason and this gives room to more weird staff to be shared on socials in the name that times have changed and that we are in the digital era.

Sometimes one would wonder if there are no restrictions to such staff but trust me there are regulations that are to be put in place when doing such as disclaimers or warnings to alert the viewers of a certain platform. The latest is a live video clip of a doctor in Somalia in theatre room performing the caesarean section on his TikTok account. When you hear of a theatre room one thing sparks one’s mind “a matter of life and death” and here a doctor is expected to be super sober and to pay attention to each and every detail to avoid cases of sides effects in patients after operation.

In this clip the doctor is seen glued to his followers on TikTok and the question that keeps popping up in my mind is that “how safe is the process and what would be the end results…? if there could be [a mistake could he escape the rath of judgment from the court of law?… just thinking to myself and wondering what the family of the patient would say or do if they had a chance to come across that clip.

When asked why he went live on TikTok during that time the doctor said that the socials are made to educate and this is especially done on TikTok on matters health citing that he didn’t commit any offence by doing so since the video was made for education purposes. The socials are made for any reason you would think of but again what is the reason of sharing some information on platforms, have you considered the impact of whatever you are sharing? And lastly do you put your consumers first now that everyone comes from different backgrounds and have different beliefs on certain things? Food for thought…
