Police in Rongai, Kajiado County, are investigating an incident where a woman allegedly killed her two children, stabbed her husband three times before attempting suicide. Christine Karimi was admitted at the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) in critical condition and is currently undergoing treatment.
She allegedly stabbed her husband Rodgers Andere three times in the head and neck after an argument they had when he got home past 1 am on Thursday. Neighbors said the couple had been having domestic issues.
Christine, who remained behind, is said to have locked the doors before allegedly killing her two children and turning the knife on herself.
According to the local chief who was the first on the scene, neighbors said the couple had been arguing at their home at Taaria Apartments along Maasai Lodge Road, and minutes later, they heard the husband calling for help. The 30-year-old man managed to escape and ran outside the house, bleeding, to seek help from neighbors.
Kajiado North Police Commander Hussein Gura said officers recovered the murder weapon, a kitchen knife, and have launched an investigation.
The couple, who are currently in a critical condition at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH), were first brought to Sinai Health Centre covered in blood before being transferred to the referral hospital. The bodies of their deceased children are at the City Mortuary.
